IREC Accreditation

On March 24, 2010 the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) officially recognized the MREA for our commitment to quality and excellence in renewable energy training. The IREC Institute for Sustainable Power Quality Accreditation & Certification Program awarded the MREA and our instructors four levels of certification.

The first level is Training Program Accreditation for our Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal training programs. This accreditation both recognizes the MREA’s adherence to the ISPQ international standard 01022 and recognizes that our workshops, as outlined below, satisfy the complete NABCEP task analysis for each technology.

Photovoltaic Workshops:
  • Basic Photovoltaics
  • Residential PV Site Assessor
  • Commercial PV Site Assessor
  • Intermediate PV
  • PV Design & Installation Lab
  • Advanced Lead Installer - Residential PV Installation
Solar Thermal Workshops:
  • Solar Domestic Hot Water
  • Residential Solar Water Site Assessor
  • Commercial Solar Water Site Assessor
  • Solar Space Heating Systems
  • Solar Water Heating Installation Lab
  • Advanced Lead Installer - Residential Solar Thermal Installation
  • Solar Thermal Design

The MREA also received Continuing Education Provider Accreditation for two of our small wind energy workshops. The accreditation recognizes that the content of these workshops is based on the NABCEP task analysis and the development and administration of the workshops adhere to the ISPQ international standard. These workshops include:

  • Introduction to Wind Energy Systems
  • Small Wind Site Assessor

In addition to accreditation for our workshops, nine MREA instructors received certification recognizing their accomplishment and commitment to excellence in renewable energy training. Seven MREA instructors received Affiliated Instructor Certification. This certification recognizes instructors who have a high level of professional instruction and installation experience as well as a commitment to quality and professionalism in training. Two MREA instructors were awarded ISPQ Affiliated Master Trainer status. This award recognizes instructors who have an extended depth of instruction and installation experience and have proven themselves as leaders in their field.

All of us at the MREA would like to congratulate these instructors for their commitment to advancing renewable energy. We have all benefited from the great work you have done with us. Thank you!
