Scholarships For Workshops and Training
Steve Hansen Scholarship
Each year the MREA awards scholarships to students who are interested in attending college, technical college, or other training courses to study renewable energy, energy efficiency, or other sustainable living topics. To learn more see Steve Hansen Scholarship.
We Energies Renewable Energy Training Award Program
The We Energies Renewable Energy Training Program is designed to help further the education of individuals who are considering the incorporation of renewable energy technologies into their homes or businesses. This program will help offset the cost of attending a renewable energy training workshop offered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. Fees associated with workshop tuition or certification exams are considered eligible for this program. Workshop materials, lodging and travel expenses are not eligible for reimbursement.
To qualify for this incentive, your home or physical place of business must be located in We Energies electric service territory. Scholarships will reimburse the applicant for 50 percent of the course or testing fee paid. Training award funding is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until which point the fund is exhausted.
Training Award availability is listed on applicable workshop pages on the MREA Web site:
Some courses, including all of those coded with the letter "C" and some of those coded with the letter "G", are not eligible for scholarship.
Training award procedures are as follows:
- MREA confirms that the applicant is a We Energies Electric customer by cross-checking the applicant's address with the Wisconsin Utility spreadsheet.
- Following completion of the workshop or test, the attendee must complete a Renewable Energy Training Program Report HERE and submit the form to the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) no later than one week after course completion.
- Upon MREA approval, 50% of the workshop fee paid will be mailed by check from MREA to the attendee. If the attendee does not attend the course, or did not successfully complete the course and/or form, the award will be withheld.
Please note: the processing and distribution of reimbursement checks will take SEVERAL MONTHS. Thank you for your patience.
