Scholarships For Workshops and Training
Focus on Energy
Through a partnership with Focus on Energy, the MREA is able to offer the following scholarships. These scholarships are only available to Wisconsin residents whose utility participates in the Focus on Energy Program. See the utility listing at the bottom of this page.
Renewable Energy Bucks
These $40 scholarships can be used toward tuition on the following MREA courses:
• Intermediate Photovoltaics
• PV Site Assessor Training
• PV Design and Installation Lab
• Advanced Photovoltaics I
• Wind Site Assessor Training
• Wind System Installation
• Solar Water Site Assessor Training
• Solar Water Installation
• Solar Water Heating Installation Lab
• Starting a Renewable Energy Business
See course descriptions for more detail. Renewable Energy Bucks are limited, and available on a first come, first served basis. If eligible, please choose either RE Bucks or a Business Skills Scholarship, both incetives are not available for the same class.
Business Skills Scholarships
These scholarships will pay 50% of the tuition or fees of eligible courses, workshops, or certification exams, up to $300. To be eligible you must be either a renewable energy professional (owner or employee of a business that offers renewable energy equipment or sales) or the owner or employee of a business that is considering the incorporation of renewable energy technologies into its operation. The business you own or represent must be located in the service territory of a utility participating in the Focus on Energy program. Business Skills Scholarships are limited, and available on a first come, first served basis.
Two Easy Steps to a Business Skills Scholarship
1. Apply for the scholarship to confirm course approval and scholarship availability using this form: Business Skills Scholarship Application
2. Submit proof of payment and complete this report form within 30 days of attending the course in order to receive the the scholarship: Business Scholarship Report Form

Solar Water Heating Installation Lab Scholarships
We Energies is offering a 50% tuition scholarship for participants in the MREA's Solar Water Heating Installation Lab for Professionals workshops, sections 301.01P, 301.02P, 301.03P, and 301.04P. To be eligible for the scholarship you must work for a renewable energy business located in We Energies service territory. For complete details download the program guidelines and report form.
Steve Hansen Scholarship
Each year the MREA awards scholarships to students who are interested in attending college, technical college, or other training courses to study renewable energy, energy efficiency, or other sustainable living topics. To learn more see Steve Hansen Scholarship.
